| BAGAN DATUK: The government is intensifying efforts to strengthen and professionalise the tahfiz education ecosystem through the Malaysia Tahfiz Recognition Standard (SPTM).
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said SPTM reflects the government's commitment to elevating tahfiz education in a more structured, standardised and high-quality manner.
"It has been developed collaboratively with state governments, ministries, federal agencies, expert panels and tahfiz associations.
"The objective of SPTM is to enhance the quality of tahfiz education and serve as a recognition mechanism for huffaz and tahfiz institutions. Its implementation will be carried out in phases beginning in 2026," he said.
He said this in his speech at the Huffaz Gathering 2025 and Nusantara Da'wah Symphony at the Tuminah Hamidi Mosque here today.
Also present were Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir and Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Minister Datuk Dr Zulkifli Hasan.
Zahid said that under SPTM, the government will introduce incentives to encourage excellence among tahfiz institutions, beginning with financial recognition for high-performing institutions.
"The government has proposed incentives for five top-performing tahfiz institutions based on SPTM criteria.
"However, I have directed that starting next year, the incentive be increased to RM50,000 per institution and expanded to include 10 outstanding tahfiz institutions," he said.
He added that the incentives were not solely about financial assistance but aimed at motivating institutions to continuously improve quality, governance and best practices.
"This is not merely about figures or monetary value. It is a motivational boost to encourage tahfiz institutions to continuously enhance quality and best practices.
"Institutions that excel deserve to be highlighted as Model Tahfiz Institutions of Malaysia," said Zahid, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister. |
