KUALA KANGSAR: Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah graced the 18th Convocation Ceremony of Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah (USAS) at the university's Dewan Jubli Perak here today. His Royal Highness' arrival was accompanied by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and USAS vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Wan Sabri Wan Yusof.   Sultan Nazrin, who is also the Chancellor of USAS, then presented Doctor of Philosophy degrees, faculty master's degrees, bachelor's degrees and diplomas in Management and Information Technology under the Faculty of Management and Information Technology (FPTM). His Royal Highness also conferred Doctor of Philosophy degrees, master's degrees, postgraduate diplomas, bachelor's degrees and diplomas to graduates of the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Social Sciences (FPISS). Sultan Nazrin further presented five academic excellence awards: the Chancellor's Award to Roselind Nadiera Talib; the Perak Menteri Besar Award to Nor Asmira Li Mohamed Ali; the USAS Vice-Chancellor's Award to Nurjaslinda Jamaluddin; the FPISS Best Student Award to Eddie Hidayat Qauf Husain and Fatin Nurdayana Kasmuri; and the FPTM Best Student Award to Nor Jannah Aqilah Zas Samsul Kamal and Ummi Faqihah Sobri.   Earlier, in his address, Wan Sabri said the two-day convocation, beginning today, would see degrees and diplomas awarded to 1,755 graduates, comprising six Doctor of Philosophy recipients, 18 master's degree recipients, 32 postgraduate diploma recipients, 759 bachelor's degree recipients and 940 diploma recipients. He said USAS continues to demonstrate its capability as a higher education institution in producing competent graduates through various academic and non-academic programmes at both national and international levels. "These include the S.T.A.R.T.L.E 2025 (Science, Technology, Agriculture & Landscape Expo) programme, which showcases innovations in the fields of science, technology, agriculture and landscape. The BizFest@USAS 2025 programme aims to cultivate entrepreneurship among students through various activities, strengthening their business mindset and competitiveness.   "Several international conferences have also been held, including the 2nd International Conference on Teaching Arabic Language and Literature (ICTALL 2025), in collaboration with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO) and the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY)," he said. He said organising such high-impact conferences elevated USAS' reputation as a centre of knowledge at the international level and positions the university as a trusted strategic partner for institutions both locally and abroad. — BERNAMA
