| KUANTAN: The Universiti Islam Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah (Unipsas) campus here will be rebranded as Universiti Al-Quran.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the move aligns with the aspiration of the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, to position Pahang as a centre of excellence in Islamic knowledge.
"Unipsas, a state government-owned higher education institution, will be given a new identity and vision as Universiti Al-Quran, aimed at producing a generation that is not only knowledgeable but also possesses divine guidance as the primary compass in life.
"The state government has allocated RM20 million for operating and development purposes to ensure Universiti Al-Quran's transformation agenda is implemented in a structured and effective manner.
"This represents an increase from the RM12 million allocated this year," he said while tabling the 2025 Pahang Budget at Wisma Sri Pahang today.
In August, Wan Rosdy announced that the Pahang government will establish Universiti Al-Quran in Kuantan.
Meanwhile, Wan Rosdy said RM716.05 million has been allocated for water supply projects, including the construction of new infrastructure and the upgrading of existing systems across the state.
"Next year, the state government has earmarked RM64.54 million through Pengurusan Air Pahang Bhd to improve service efficiency, reduce non-revenue water (NRW), and ensure a more stable and high-quality water supply," he said. |
