JOHOR BARU: A task force with representatives from three ministries has been formed to investigate the death of a Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Reserve Officer Training Unit (Palapes) cadet. Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the task force includes representatives from his ministry, the Home Ministry, and the Higher Education Ministry.   He said the task force has already started its probe. Khaled, who was speaking on the sidelines of the Pasir Gudang Umno division meeting, said he understood a post-mortem had been conducted, but the report had not yet been received. Separately, Khaled said the Malaysian Armed Forces has also set up its own committee to determine the cause of death of Syamsul Haris Shamsudin, 22.   Yesterday, Kota Tinggi police chief Superintendent Yusof Othman said police were investigating Syamsul's death. This came after his mother, Ummu Haiman Bee Daulatgun, called for a probe, claiming the cause of death was unclear and questionable.   The single mother said her observations during the post-mortem found severe injuries on her son's body that were inconsistent with the initial information that his death was due to a seizure. Syamsul Haris, the eldest of three siblings, was a Semester 2 Bachelor of Cyber Security student at UTM.   He joined the Palapes UTM training last Saturday, which was scheduled to end today. Ummu received a call last Monday that he had died. Syamsul has since been buried.
