| KUALA LUMPUR: A new subject titled Alam dan Manusia: Pembelajaran Bersepadu (Nature and Humanity: Integrated Learning) will be introduced for Year One pupils under the 2027 school curriculum.
The subject will replace four existing subjects, Science, Health Education, Visual Arts Education, and Music Education, as part of efforts to promote a more integrated and holistic learning approach.
The Education Ministry said Alam dan Manusia combines multiple disciplines, including science, health, music, visual arts, technical and vocational education and training (TVET), and digital literacy.
Lessons will be conducted through a co-teaching approach, where two teachers collaborate in the same classroom.
"Co-teaching involves joint lesson planning, teaching, and assessment. This approach supports pupils' personalised learning needs, enhances classroom management, and strengthens the multidisciplinary nature of the subject by allowing teachers to complement each other's strengths," the ministry said.
It added that the new subject, which will first be introduced to Year One pupils, reflects the primary focus at Level One, Years One to Three, strengthening literacy and numeracy skills, as well as building character.
"Therefore, only a minimal number of subjects will be taught at this stage to help pupils master foundational skills before progressing to higher levels of learning." |
