Abstract :
KUALA LUMPUR: The Celik Kewangan Belia Madani (Celik Madani) programme has achieved a major milestone, registering more than 200,000 student participants from institutes of higher learning (IHL) nationwide last year. Led by Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) and its subsidiary Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASNB), the initiative aims to reach one million student registrations by 2030.   As of April 13, 2026, ASNB has engaged 134,000 students through 196 financial literacy programmes and account-opening advisory sessions. Launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in August 2024, the programme provides participants with a RM50 seed investment in Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) or Amanah Saham Malaysia (ASM) to encourage early investment habits. Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, speaking at the Celik Madani Achievement and Future Direction ceremony at Menara Merdeka 118 today, said the initiative equipped students with "real-world survival skills".   He urged more universities to emulate the 27 institutions already participating in the programme. PNB Group chairman Raja Tan Sri Arshad Raja Tun Uda reaffirmed the group's commitment to sustaining momentum into 2026 to nurture a financially literate generation. The ceremony also saw six institutions recognised for their outstanding contributions to the programme's implementation in 2025.   The event further highlighted the "Pandu Impianmu 2.0" campaign, which features prizes including electric vehicles and the ASB 3 Didik education savings fund. Also present were PNB president and group chief executive Datuk Abdul Rahman Ahmad, and Higher Education director-general Datuk Professor Dr Azlinda Azman.
