| CYBERJAYA: The Higher Education Ministry will seek further details from Universiti Malaya (UM) regarding a controversial scene from a play that has gone viral on social media.
Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said he was aware of the reports circulating online and would await a full briefing from the university.
"I saw it on social media. I will get information from UM first," he told reporters after the University of Cyberjaya (UoC) digital library upgrading ceremony today.
The performance, allegedly staged at the university, drew public backlash after clips featuring "indecent elements" were shared widely on social media.
UM has since issued an apology for the oversight, stating it would not compromise on any violation of established programme guidelines or regulations.
Initial investigations by the university found that the scene in question was not part of the original script vetted by the organisers and constituted a clear violation of competition rules. |
